Northern Blood and Northern Shadows have been chosen as Finalists in the Laramie Award and the Global Thriller Award of the 2022 Chanticleer International Book Awards. The finalists will compete for First Place and overall winner to be revealed at the CIBA conference April 27-30, 2023. Can’t wait to see how they do!

I am excited to see that Northern Blood has been moved to the Shortlist of the 2022 Laramie Awards. And Northern Shadows has been Long listed for the 2022 Global Thriller Awards. I am looking forward to seeing how far these two knockout historical thrillers progress.

For those of you interested in Historical Fiction content, I have started writing magazine articles for the Historical Times Magazine. I published a piece on the rivalry and friendship between George Armstrong Custer and Thomas L. Rosser during the Civil War in August and a piece on crafting an epic battle scene in November. Starting next year, I will have even more pieces out there.

I am very excited to announce that I have signed a deal with Blackstone Publishing for the final two audiobooks within the Northern Wolf Series. November 14-18, 2022
I was out in Vegas for my third 20booksto50k convention. This is the premier indie author event with over 2000 authors in attendance. Each day is packed with panels and events centered around genres, marketing, business, and more. I would recommend to all authors but especially new ones seeking to level up their game and make connections.

We had an awesome time meeting up with everyone at the 5th Annual Fredericksburg Independent Book Festival. James Noll and company put on an awesome festival. Per usual, this year was again blazing hot in early October, but it created a great opportunity for people to come out. It was also the only show we did this year, but was a ton of fun.

Well all, it’s been one crazy year. With the pandemic in full swing, it put the kibosh on in-person events. I think 2021 will be better and that live events will slowly come back over the course of the year. I hope at some point I can meet you all in the flesh again and we can chat and talk books, games, and workouts but until then, please hang in there. This has been a tough year on many folks, so let’s remind ourselves to treat each other with kindness. Can’t wait to catch up soon. Happy Holidays!

We spent the weekend at the Fairfax Comic Con. It was great to see a bunch of familiar faces and meeting so many new folks as well. I participated on an author panel and had a blast discussing craft.

I had the pleasure to spend the day in Gettysburg National Park with my family. If you’ve never been, it is an amazing park and I highly recommend. In conjunction with the driving tour we checked out the Eastern Cavalry Fields where Custer dueled with J.E.B. Stuart on Day 3. This part of the Gettysburg battle happened about the same time as Pickett’s charge. And just so happens to play a pivotal part in my new novel Northern Wolf.

We spent the weekend at All-Star Con in Reston, VA. It was a great show with a gaming room featured by TableTop Tavern and a Star Trek simulator.
